The Courage to Be Seen

By Amy West

“You are not too much, too little, or too late. You are exactly enough to begin.” ~ Unknown

Putting yourself out there can feel tender and terrifying all at once. Whether it’s sharing your voice, stepping into a new role, applying for the job, or allowing others to truly see you, that edge between comfort and courage is where growth begins.

So often we wait until we feel ready, until things are perfect, until we’re certain of the outcome. But readiness rarely comes before action. It comes through it. Every time you take a small step forward, you build trust in yourself. You learn that you can handle being seen, being stretched, and being brave.

In my own life, I’ve learned that movement, both physical and emotional, is what brings us to life. When we move, we shift energy. We awaken courage. We reconnect with that inner voice that whispers, “You’re capable of more than you think. The world isn’t asking you to play small”

Here’s a little reflection to try when you are faced with a decision: imagine yourself five years from now. Look back at today. What do you hope you’ll have had the courage to do? What opportunities will you be grateful you said yes to, even when your heart raced? What fears will you have outgrown simply because you dared to move through them?

Putting yourself out there isn’t about self-promotion; it’s about embodying self-expression. It’s about choosing to participate fully in your own life, to risk a little vulnerability for the sake of joy, connection, and purpose.

This week, take one step, large or small, toward something that stirs your heart. Remember: courage doesn’t mean the fear disappears. It means you’re willing to show up by putting fear next to you in the passenger seat and you in the driver’s seat.

Five years from now, may you look back and smile, knowing you didn’t hide—you went for it.

Stretching alongside you,

Amy
